Hey Everyone, Terpii here and I’m excited to fill you all in about my recent travels! Lately I’ve been very interested in countries that exist with more than one national language so I’ve decided to hop around and check them out myself. I especially wanted to see if I could keep up, switching back and forth between languages the way the natives do!  I decided my first stop, and the place I’ll be sharing today, is Singapore!

Country Spotlight: FRANCE [Terpii Travels]

Culture, Terpii Travels

Hey there everyone, Terpii here! As you know I’ve been having a great time hopping around the world these past few months. This month, I got inspired to visit the home of the only language spoken on all continents…France! Yup, did you know that around the world about 220 million people speak French, and the country of France technically spans all 12 time zones if you include its territories! There I was, hopping around, when I first noticed a great deal of French being spoken along the west coast of Africa. Then, in South America, I heard French drifting down from parts of the Caribbean and also from French Guyana.  As I continued on through Oceania, Vanatu and French Polynesia offered up the friendly greeting, “Bonjour!”  So, suddenly inspired to visit the mother country of this language, I headed over to France, the most popular tourist destination in the world!

Hi everyone! Terpii here, reporting amongst over a billion people! That’s right, I decided to switch things up and fly far east to the country with the largest population in the world: China. China also has the second largest economy in the world after the USA. China is home to the beloved Giant Panda. The tallest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest, borders China and Nepal. China borders fourteen countries, and is home to the most spoken language in the world, Mandarin, with over a billion speakers! So, needless to say, there’s a lot happening in China! Lets check it out….

Hi there! It’s Terpii checking in from India!

I’ve spent the last few weeks flying my way through the 7th largest country in the world, the largest democracy in the world, and also one of Earth’s oldest civilizations: India. The richness of its culture is almost as diverse as the languages spoken here. Did you know that there are 22 primary languages in India, and within them approximately 1000 dialects! My ears have been hard at work on this trip!

Hi there! Terpii here checking in again from my latest travel adventure. After spending the holidays in Spain, I decided to jet over to the wonderful country of Peru. I flew in to Lima, the capital city. The Lima Metropolitan Area has a population of roughly 10 million people making it both the largest city in Peru and second largest city in the Americas, behind São Paulo. Lima is located on the central coastal area of the country, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Terpii Travels: Spain

Culture, Terpii Travels

Holá! Terpii here. This month I am hanging out in the wonderful country of Spain! Currently in Madrid warming up with a typical Madrid dish, churros con chocolate! Have you ever tried it? Although the winters throughout Spain are generally mild, it still gets quite chilly in the interior of the country. The Pyrenees in the North even get snow! I may have to catch a train up there and get some skiing in. The train is a great way to get around, by the way, if you plan on visiting anytime soon. Spain is one of the world’s oldest cultures with a rich heritage and has so much to offer. Below are some fun facts I have learned thus far:
